Strange comics

The fact that I didn't work on any new project for French editors , has it's good side . After a long time , I catch enough time to develop a whole new comic concept . A strange one . I always had interests in experimental  comics , and handcrafts , and this seams to be the perfect way to mix them up . Here you can see lots a ways to apply story on rocks , little bottles , wood , paper blocks , etc ...

Fantasy RV ( recreation vehicle )

Interesting thing about this illustration is that everybody ask me : what this is for ? And I said : Well , just for fun , nothing special . That makes me think , how I didn't make something special for me for a very long time . There is always something other more important to do . And in a meanwhile , I forget what is my interest and thematic . But now , everything is clear : my thematic are turtles and dwarfs .

Round Comic

This is one more comic concept . As you can see it's a round box filled with 21 round papers illustrated with story about Arhimed , and his last moments . Name of comic is of course : Don't touch my circles . After I finish those pictures , I connect them with white tread , so when you open the box you start to take pictures out the box together with cover . To be honest , comic is totally unpractical for reading , and I realize it , as soon as give it to first person to read. That's why I made one page comic of it - it's much more practical for reading . But if nothing more , at least I have nice object or artefact for my collection .

Wooden comic

In order to keep on with searching for new possibilities , and themes , I made a short wooden comic about old Hijahinto , and wise Kut Humi . Its a hard cover packaging , with four pictures on two wooden plates . Technique is mixed media as usual . And there are cover page too of course . Sorry about Serbian letters , but story is not important really . It's about two of them quarreling about : doe's their philosophy should call Hijahintizm , or Kut Humizm ???

"Rise and fall of art" short trailer

From November of 2012. till February 2013. I was working on this short animated movie . It was a bit strange how it happened to me to make this movie . One night my friend Slavisa Savic comes at my place , and after a long chating  he asked me : You know how the art was invented ? And I said : How ? Than he started to speak ( of course , it was just joke ) , and I thought in my self , how this could be a great short animated movie . In next few months I was in some other projects , but just when the first brake was occurred I start to draw first drawings of future movie . Few of my friends jumped inside and helped me to finish it . But whole animation ( about 900 drawings ) was my part of the job . Fortunately , few months latter when we already finish the movie , we find out that we receive money for it from Erste Bank fond . I was really enjoying doing this movie . It was dynamic , I was with people fooling around and working in a same time . We had great time recording the voices too , and part of editing was my favorite because than you give your movie final touch and emotion . Problem with this movie was , that there were some people that didn't understand the end , so finally we decided to change credits on the end of movie , and show what happened . After a long time of thinking : how I should make my show reel , I finaly sit and do it . Of course with little help of my friend Nebojsa Andric . Here you can see short fragments from next videos , moustly in 2D animation techniques .

20000 leagues under the sea

I was very happy when I received this job . It was just what I need in that time . Classic adventure story in black and white. There are 12 illustrations inside ( although I wanted to have at least 50 , because I like this book very much ). I am eager to see how it will look when it's published . Makondo ( publishing house ) usually make very beautiful and luxury books . I have to say , that this is not final cover page , what you can see here - there will be some changes . In near future I will make one more for them , and it will be               " Treasure island "  . One more delicacy for every illustrator  .

 

Commissioned artwork

This is the drawing for Francois , one of my greatest fans . And he already have few of my original paintings .
I liked his idea : submarine looking like ship and sea queen . But I didn't know what to draw on first . After
a walk ( because I think best while I walk ) this comes up my mind . Interesting thing is that I get this job in a same time when I was working on illustrations for "20000 leagues under the sea " ( in next post ) .

Old Serbian feary tales

There is almost half of year since I finish this , but I didn't want to put it on the web before it was published . And finally there it is . There are more in book , among lot's of other illustrations made by other Serbian illustrators . I am very satisfied with this book , it's very nice designed and very well printed . I enjoyed working on this book , and I hope it's obvious on those illustrations .

Sans Titre 1 , 2

I was sitting at my friends flat speaking about comics and philosophy . What else ? You know , who is stronger Zagor or Spider-man etc ... As I need third of my brain to speak about that ( because everybody knows that  Zagor is stronger ) , I had mental space to draw something in a same time . And I draw this . A bit Moebius like , but it's always like that when I speak about Zagor and Spider-man . If you wander what the f... is this , don't bother just go on the next post . And than , when I was back home I did some Photoshop retouch and ta-daaaah ! And then I brush my teeth and went to sleep ...

Santa Claus

My fan from Belgium , asks me to make him New Years card , and if it's not a problem , to make a scan of few stages of work . I said , that's not a problem , and what is even better , you can see now whole procedure how I make all this pictures . It's combination of techniques as usually . 

Rewinding Comic

This is a project that I made for Belgrade Comic Fest . The idea came after I made 20 illustrations for Victor Radonjic's poems , that can fit together to make one big illustration .

It's actually a paper band 7m long and 7cm thick. Drawings are done with mixture of graphite pens, air brush and white gouache. After that it is coiled on two sticks and put together in wooden box, with rewind buttons. As I like to say, this is a one picture comic (no vertical spaces between pictures) and you need to rewind it in order to read it. Hence the title "Premotavanje" - Rewinding. The story is about rewinding also, rewinding of the whole life through series of flash-back's.
This comic artifact is also adapted for "Stripoteka" comic magazine on four pages with five stripes each. I received Grand Prix at Belgrade comic salon 2012. for this, some would say, ready made or assemblage or installation. This video version is made to create the impression of watching real box and how it looks when you rotate the buttons.

Summer day till noon

I made a cover page for new book of Nebojsa Romcevic . I must admit that I didn't have time to read it , but receive suggestion  from editor  . After I finish sketch , they said : sure go ahead . But they didn't accept my design solution ( the one you can see here ) . No worry's , their solution was very good too .

New jobs

I found myself  in empty period . There is no news from French editors so I use this time to do some little jobs . As matter of fact , I prefer this kind of arrangements more than long jobs such as comic albums for French editors . But working in comic business have some good sides , that makes me going back in comic world . Doing albums is for certain ( you know what , and how much you are going to work next one year ). With free lance it's not that simple . And as a comic author you can build some carer and be known as drawer with his own project and style  .
